ล่าสุดในวันนี้ได้มีการเปิดเผยรายชื่อผู้เข้าชิงรางวัลออสการ์ประจำปี 2023 ออกมา โดยเปิดเผยออกมาแค่เพียง 10 สาขาจากทั้งหมด 24 สาขา ซึ่งรายชื่อเหล่านี้เป็นเพียงรายชื่อคร่าวๆ และเมื่อถึงวันประกาศรางวัลจริงจะเหลือผู้เข้าชิงแค่สาขาละ 5 เรื่องเท่านั้น แต่ดูเหมือนว่า Avatar: The Way of Water ของผู้กำกับ James Cameron จะมาแรงไม่น้อยหน้าใคร เนื่องจากภาคต่อเรื่องนี้ได้เข้าชิงมากถึง 4 สาขา

วันนี้ Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences ได้ออกมาเปิดเผยรายชื่อผู้เข้าชิงรางวัลออสการณ์ประจำปี 2023 ซึ่งทำการเปิดเผยออกมาแค่เพียง 10 สาขาเท่านั้น ส่วนสาขาอื่นๆ ที่เหลือจะมีการประกาศภายหลัง แม้ว่าจะมีการประกาศออกมาแค่เพียง 10 สาขา แต่กลับกลายเป็นว่า Avatar: The Way of Water ได้เข้าชิงมากถึง 4 สาขา โดยสาขาที่ได้เข้าชิงมีดังนี้ ดนตรีประกอบภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม (Best Original Score) แต่งโดย Simon Franglen, เพลงประกอบภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม (Best Original Song) จากเพลง “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” ของ The Weeknd, บันทึกเสียงยอดเยี่ยม (Best Sound) และ เทคนิคพิเศษยอดเยี่ยม (Best Visual Effects)

ก่อนหน้านี้ Avatar (2009) ภาคแรกนั้นเคยได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัลออสการ์ถึง 9 สาขา ในปี 2010 โดยสามารถคว้ารางวัลกลับบ้านไปได้ทั้งหมด 3 สาขา ได้แก่ ถ่ายภาพยอดเยี่ยม (Best Cinematography), เทคนิคพิเศษยอดเยี่ยม (Best Visual Effects) และ ออกแบบงานสร้างยอดเยี่ยม (Best Art Direction) ซึ่งอีก 6 สาขาที่เหลือที่ Avatar เข้าชิงได้แก่ ภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม (Best Picture), ผู้กำกับยอดเยี่ยม (Best Director), ตัดต่อภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม (Best Film Editing), ดนตรีประกอบภาพยนตร์ยอดเยี่ยม (Best Original Score), ลำดับเสียงยอดเยี่ยม (Best Sound Editing) และ บันทึกเสียงยอดเยี่ยม (Best Sound Mixing) อย่างไรก็ตาม งานประกาศรางวัลออสการ์ครั้งที่ 95 จะมีขึ้นในวันที่ 12 มีนาคม 2023 ถ่ายทอดสดจากโรงละคร Dolby ในลอสแองเจลิส และจะมีการถ่ายทอดสดทางช่อง ABC ซึ่งจะมี Jimmy Kimmel เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานพร้อมกับเป็นพิธีกรผู้ดำเนินรายการ โดยก่อนหน้านี้เขาเคยเป็นเจ้าภาพงานประกาศรางวัลออสการ์มาแล้วในปี 2017 และ 2018
