Born in the Mat-Su Valley in Alaska to an a Brazilian Mother and a father who hitchhiked from New Jersey, director Nova Duarte Martinez grew up very isolated, but was raised in a home where many stories were told and her imagination had room to flourish. Cinema always came back to her as the artistic medium which spoke to her the most. Her work often focuses on themes such as womanhood, sexuality, loneliness, youth, drawing inspiration from life experiences, classical cinema, and the souls she encounters. Her work has been showcased at The Great Film Club, City Shorts, and QWOCMAP. Her most recent production "No Plan B"-a visual essay she wrote, directed, produced, edited and starred in, provoked by a regrettable first sexual experience-is now looking for its place in festivals.
