แอนิเมชันจากค่าย Disney อย่าง Encanto (2021) และซีรีส์จากแพลตฟอร์มสตรีมมิ่ง Hulu อย่าง Love, Victor (2020) เป็นสองเรื่องที่ชนะรางวัลใหญ่ในงานประกาศรางวัล Imagen Awards ประจำปี 2022 ที่จัดขึ้นเมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมาที่ La Plaza de Cultura y Artes ในตัวเมืองลอสแองเจลิส

โดยแอนิเมชัน Encanto ชนะรางวัลสาขาภาพยนตร์เรื่องยาวยอดเยี่ยม และซีรีส์ Love, Victor ก็ชนะรางวัลสาขา Primetime Comedy อีกครั้งหลังจากที่ซีรีส์ Love, Victor คว้ารางวัลในสาขานี้ไปได้เป็นครั้งแรกจากงานประกาศรางวัลประจำปีครั้งที่ 37 ในงานประกาศรางวัลที่เริ่มขึ้นตั้งแต่ปี 1985 จากไอเดียของผู้ผลิตรายการโทรทัศน์มากประสบการณ์อย่าง Norman Foundation ที่ตั้งใจก่อตั้งงานประกาศรางวัลนี้ขึ้นมาเพื่อสนับสนุนและให้การยอมรับแก่ชาวละตินในแวดวงภาพยนตร์และวงการบันเทิง โดยในปัจจุบัน มูลนิธิ Imagen Foundation ก็มีจุดมุ่งหมายที่จะทำหน้าที่เป็นสะพานเชื่อมสัมพันธ์ระหว่างชุมชนของชาวละตินและอุตสาหกรรมวงการบันเทิง และช่วยจัดหาการเข้าถึง การศึกษาและทรัพยากรสำหรับชาวละตินที่ต้องการเข้าถึงอุตสาหกรรมวงการบันเทิง รวมไปถึงชาวละตินที่ต้องการทำงานในตำแหน่งใดก็ตามในวงการบันเทิง

งานประกาศรางวัล Imagen Awards ได้เริ่มขึ้นในช่วง Afternoon Gala เมื่อวันอาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมา ซึ่งก็ถือเป็นการกลับมาของงานประกาศรางวัล Imagen Awards อีกครั้งหลังจากที่ห่างหายไปนานถึง 2 ปีจากเหตุการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของโรคระบาด COVID-19

และนอกจากการชนะรางวัลสาขาภาพยนตร์เรื่องราวยอดเยี่ยมแล้ว แอนิเมชัน Encanto ยังชนะรางวัลสาขาผู้กำกับยอดเยี่ยมจากทั้งสามผู้กำกับมากฝีมืออย่าง Jared Bush, Byron Howard และ Castro Smith ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น Eugenio Derbez ก็ชนะรางวัลสาขานักแสดงนำชายยอดเยี่ยมจากภาพยยนตร์เรื่อง CODA (2021) ในขณะที่ Ariana DeBose ก็สามารถคว้ารางวัลสาขานักแสดงนำหญิงยอดเยี่ยมไปได้จากภาพยนตร์ West Side Story (2021) มาในส่วนของรายการทีวีกันบ้าง ซีรีส์ Selena: The Series ก็ได้รับการเสนอชื่อให้เข้าชิงรางวัลสาขา Primetime Drama ยอดเยี่ยม ในขณะที่รางวัลนักแสดงนำยอดเยี่ยมประจำนี้ตกเป็นของ Oscar Isaac จากซีรีส์เรื่อง Scenes From a Marriage (2021), Judy Reyes จากซีรีส์ Torn From Her Arms (2021), Michael Cimino จากซีรีส์ Love, Victor และ Victoria Moroles จากซีรีส์ Plan B (2021)

ในส่วนของรางวัลสาขา Lifetime Achievement Award ก็ถูกมอบให้กับ Luis Valdez นักเขียน, ผู้กำกับและผู้เขียนบทละคร ผู้เขียนบทภาพยนตร์เรื่อง La Bamba (1987) ภาพยนตร์ที่กำลังจะครบรอบ 35 ปีในปี 2022 นี้

นอกจากนี้ ในช่วงงานประกาศรางวัลยังได้มีการสรรเสริญให้กับ Lear ผู้ที่อายุครบ 100 ปีในปีนี้อีกด้วย

โดยผู้ชนะในงานประกาศรางวัลนี้นั้นมาจากการกำหนดโดยคณะกรรมการอิสระของผู้บริหารอุตสาหกรรมวงการบันเทิงและผู้นำชุมชนของชาวละติน และการถ่ายทอดสดงานประกาศรางวัลย้อนหลังจะออกอากาศในวันที่ 29 ตุลาคม และ 2 พฤศจิกายน ทาง KCET และพร้อมให้สตรีมทั่วประเทศผ่านทาง pbs.org
