In 1940s Amsterdam, Jewish Council co-chairman David Cohen and his daughter Virrie have their bond tested as they pursue increasingly opposing ways of safeguarding their community under Nazi rule.

The Story of the Netherlands tells the story of the country we live in, from the moment the first inhabitants settled there. Never before has our history, and how it has made us who we are today, been made tangible in this way. The project consists of a 10-part television series for NPO 1, with Daan Schuurmans as narrator.

The animals play the main role in this series. The animals are the real main characters and the supporting roles are for the caretakers or zoo staff. Decisive for the program is the camera technology, which shows the animals' lives everywhere behind the scenes and out of sight of the audience. We experience the 24-hour feeling within the walls of the zoo, just like the animals themselves. The program is recorded at Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen, the Netherlands.

Every day we are inundated with information. Can facts still be distinguished from fables? With a nod to today's 'do your own research' internet culture, Marijn, Joep and Tim invent their own experiments, of which they are part. They have one goal: to find out the truth once and for all.

During the course of five weeks the series follows the family members who put their own interests aside in order to save everything. But not everyone is playing a fair game, which seems to result in the inevitable downfall of the once so close Praal family.

Flikken Rotterdam takes place in Rotterdam, and is after Flikken Maastricht the second Dutch spin-off of the Flemish show Flikken.
